The Story of

Lilja Gudmundsdottir

I am Lilja Gudmundsdottir, founder of Lilja’s Cleaning Service. A native of Iceland, I made Nevada County my home in 1997. I started this business as a one-woman enterprise, often with my two young sons in tow. Over the course of twenty years, I have steadily grown the business, establishing an extensive list of loyal residential clientele plus a growing commercial sector.

Aesthetic Vision

Many people say I have an “eye” for making spaces beautiful. This aesthetic sensibility, combined with my commitment to using the most innovative cleaning technologies, defines my approach. I prioritize eco-friendly tools and practices whenever possible, reducing waste and enhancing the effectiveness of each clean.

Warmth & Passion

I am warm, caring, and enjoy infusing a bit of humor into my interactions. Beyond my business, I am an avid nature photographer with a deep love for the serene beauty of the Yuba River. My photography is a reflection of my fascination with the natural world, and I often share this passion through local art shows and open studios.

Dedicated Team

Supporting me in this journey is a dedicated team that mirrors my commitment to excellence and an unwavering work ethic. My life partner, Peter, plays a crucial role behind the scenes, managing the operational aspects of the business. Alongside him, a skilled team of professionals helps execute the high standards we set, ensuring top-quality service for every client.
